Mobile network operator, MTN Nigeria, has launched the APPtitude campaign, an offering that allows its subscribers download Nigerian apps free.

MTN told Forumspotz that the APPtitude campaign will run for 30 days, starting from May 1 to 30, 2015.

The MNO explained that a portal had been created to this effect, which curates a host of local apps in the market under different categories that includes sports, entertainment, lifestyle, health/fitness, business including religion.

“The APPtitude movement is borne out of the need to educate our customers on the value which can be derived from making use of mobile application in their everyday business,” the company said.

Subscribers on MTN’s network can access this portal by sending APP to 131.

MTN also says it’s going to support SMEs in converting their websites to mobile applications while bearing the cost of maintaining and hosting the apps.
