The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed December 5th for the bye-election into the vacant seat of Jibiya Constituency of Katsina State House of Assembly.

INEC’s Head of Voter Education, Ibrahim Girei, said arrangements are being concluded for the exercise.

It would be recalled that the seat became vaccant following the demise of the member, Faisal Musa Jibiya (APC, Jibiya), who was among those feared dead in the Saudi stampede during the last Hajj exercise.

Meanwhile, the ruling APC has slated today as date for its primaries to select flag bearer for the Jibiya state assembly bye-election.

Katsina State’s APC publicity secretary, Shitu A Shitu who spoke to newsmen, said arrangements had been concluded for the exercise scheduled to hold at Jibiya.

“A level playing ground will be provided in line with our party’s resolve to ensure strict adherence to democratic principles” Shitu said and expressed optimism that the APC will still clinch the seat.
