A helicopter conveying the Prime Minister of Benin Republic, Lionel Zinsou, crash-landed in a stadium in Djougou, a city in the country’s northwest, AFP quoted a state official as saying on Sunday.

However, the PM escaped unhurt in the crash which occurred on Saturday.

A source in the presidency told AFP: “The prime minister was on board at the time of the crash-landing … happily he emerged safe and sound.”

Also, no casualty was recorded in the incident.

The country has commenced investigation into the cause of the incident.

Mr. Zinsou is a leading contender for the ruling party’s slot in the February 2016 presidential election in the country.
