LAGOS, Nigeria: Youth members of the African Democratic Congress are scheduled to hold protests at offices of Nigeria‘s Independent National Electoral Commission in Lagos State, Ogun State, and Jigawa State on Monday, April 20, 2026, to demand the removal of the commission’s chairman, Joash Amupitan.

Okay News reports that the African Democratic Congress National Youth Leader, Balarabe Rufai, announced the demonstrations on the social media platform X on Monday.

Rufai released promotional materials indicating the Lagos protest will commence at 8:00 a.m. West Africa Time from Yaba College of Technology. The demonstration in Ogun is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m. West Africa Time at the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited office in Abeokuta.

The scheduled demonstrations follow an Occupy INEC protest held in Abuja on April 8. That demonstration included former Vice President of Nigeria Atiku Abubakar, alongside political figures Peter Obi, Rabiu Kwankwaso, Rotimi Amaechi, Rauf Aregbesola, and Dino Melaye.
