The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, has appointed Mr. Ebenezer Ige as Senior Special Assistant for Civil Society Engagement.

A statement by the governor’s spokesman, Olawale Rasheed, received in Osogbo on Saturday, said Ige’s appointment is in line with Adeleke’s commitment to strong and effective engagement with all parties across the state.

“The appointment of Mr. Ige Oluwasegun Ebenezer is in line with the commitment of Governor Adeleke to foster strong partnerships with civil society organizations and ensure effective engagement with all stakeholders across the state.

“Governor Adeleke has also ordered the suspension of the former Special Assistant on Civil Society, Mr. Adebisi Emmanuel, to remain in force.

This instruction is valid until the completion of investigations into the allegations against him.

“The governor has reiterated his zero tolerance policy for professional misconduct and corruption, insisting that any guilty individual will be dealt with in accordance with the law,” the statement said.

It was earlier reported that Adeleke on July 3 suspended Adebisi for undisclosed reasons and ordered an investigation into the allegations against him.

Meanwhile, Adebisi, in a Facebook post before the day of his suspension, described as false the claim that he misappropriated 70 bags of rice meant to be distributed to members of civil society groups during the recent holiday of Sallah.

Adebisi wrote: “I have learned that recent reports circulating in the media about me, Comrade Adebisi Emmanuel, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Civil Societies, are misleading and false.

“The allegations suggesting that I, Emmanuel Adebisi, have been suspended and removed from a WhatsApp group are categorically false.

“I continue to serve diligently in my capacity as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Osun State with unwavering commitment to my responsibilities.

“Any insinuation of my involvement in misconduct, especially in relation to the alleged misuse of 70 bags of rice meant for civil society in Osun during the Eid holiday, is totally baseless and undeserved. This is the work of vicious political enemies and challenge anyone with factual information on this matter to come forward.”
