Afam Osigwe Elected New President of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA)

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has a new president-elect, Afam Osigwe, a senior advocate of Nigeria and former general secretary of the association. Osigwe emerged victorious in the 2024 NBA election, which was held online and monitored by our correspondent.

According to the final results, Osigwe secured 20,435 votes, defeating his closest rivals, Tobenna Erojikwe, who garnered 10,998 votes, and Chukwuka Ikwuazom (SAN), who got 9,018 votes.

Osigwe will succeed the outgoing president, Yakubu Maikyau (SAN), and will be joined by other newly elected officials, including Sabastine Anyia as 1st Vice-President, who won with 12,114 votes, and Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun as 2nd Vice-President, who secured 26,534 votes.

The election results were announced on the NBA’s official website, marking a new leadership era for the association. Osigwe’s presidency is expected to bring new direction and focus to the NBA, building on the achievements of his predecessors.
