KADUNA, Nigeria – Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has expressed strong confidence that the northern region will vote overwhelmingly for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, citing economic stabilization and a lack of viable alternatives from the opposition.
Okay News reports that Governor Sani, who appeared as a guest on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, dismissed the current wave of criticism from opposition figures. He argued that most detractors have failed to present concrete alternative policies in critical sectors such as education, healthcare, and agriculture, labeling some as “overnight activists” whose antecedents are well-known to rural voters.
Addressing internal concerns within the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly regarding consensus candidacies, the Governor insisted he was “not losing sleep” over a potential party implosion. He clarified that in Kaduna State, consensus is only pursued when all aspirants agree, strictly adhering to the Electoral Act. He emphasized that while a governor may have preferences, the ultimate decision rests with the party members and the people.
Governor Sani also moved to quell reports of a rift within the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF). As the Vice Chairman of the forum, he described recent tensions as a “slight misunderstanding” typical of a healthy democracy. He reaffirmed that the forum remains united under the leadership of Chairman Hope Uzodimma, stressing that disagreeing to eventually reach an agreement is a fundamental part of the democratic process.
