Airline operators warn of flight disruptions due to fuel scarcity

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has issued a statement warning of disruptions in scheduled flights due to a scarcity of aviation fuel, also known as JET-A1.

According to Obiorah Okonkwo, the spokesman for AON, the scarcity is causing airlines to reschedule flights and may even lead to cancellations.

The situation is particularly concerning as it comes at a time when many people are traveling for the Christmas and New Year festivities. Okonkwo stated that the scarcity is a “pain on airline operators and a stain on the industry.”

Despite the challenges, AON remains committed to providing safe and seamless services for air travel in Nigeria.

The organization has called on product importers and marketers to do their best to resolve the situation and ease the stress it causes for travelers.

In the meantime, AON requests the understanding of the traveling public as it works to manage the situation and ensure safe flight operations.
