ADO EKITI, Nigeria – The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, declared on Monday, April 27, 2026, that Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji had secured victory prior to the June 20 governorship election.
Okay News reports that Yilwatda made the statement in Ado Ekiti during the official launch of the All Progressives Congress campaign for the re-election bid of Oyebanji.
Addressing the campaign crowd, Yilwatda said, “Take a bow because you have won already. The election is won ahead of time. We will win from ward to ward, village to village and local government to local government.” Oyebanji and his deputy, Monisade Afuye, are running for a second term under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The event was attended by several governors, including Hope Uzodinma, Uba Sani, Monday Okpebholo, Sheriff Oborevwori, Usman Ododo, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Mohammed Bago. Uba Sani, who chairs the All Progressives Congress governorship campaign in the state, described the incumbent as one of the best-performing governors, saying, “This election is about consolidation. It is about building on foundations.”
Hope Uzodinma, who chairs the All Progressives Congress Governors’ Forum, said the presence of the governors signified solidarity with the candidate and added, “A vote for Oyebanji is a vote for President Bola Tinubu.”
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who serves as the chairman of the local campaign organization, said the governor had united the state and would conduct an issue-based campaign. Oyebanji promised to build on the achievements of his administration, attributing the progress recorded to the support of President Bola Tinubu.
