ABUJA, Nigeria – The National Publicity Secretary of Nigeria’s All Progressives Congress, Felix Morka, has criticised former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi following Obi’s resignation from the African Democratic Congress on Sunday, May 3, 2026.

Okay News reports that Morka posted a statement on X accusing Obi of moving between political parties in search of an easy presidential ticket.

Morka described the former Anambra State governor as a political drifter who prefers a path to power without internal party contests. “Peter Obi, a political rolling stone that gathers no moss… roaming again in search of free, uncontested, unchallenged presidential ticket… never willing to remain to build any party,” Morka said.

He added, “He fantasises to be president on a ticket delivered only on a platter of gold… APGA – PDP – LP – ADC on to NDC,” before concluding, “Fare thee well, Nigeria’s inconsolable political drifter,”

Obi had earlier announced his departure from the African Democratic Congress due to internal disputes and divisions that he stated distracted the party from addressing national issues. In a statement shared on Sunday, Obi said his decision followed deep reflection regarding what he described as a toxic political environment.

Obi maintained that his exit was not caused by personal disagreements with party leaders such as former President of the Nigerian Senate, David Mark, or former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar. He reiterated that his priority remains improving the welfare of citizens while building a more functional society.
