Beware: NCC Warns of Severe Penalties for Using Pre-Registered SIM Cards

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) issued a stern warning to Nigerians about the dangers associated with purchasing pre-registered SIM cards.

The Commission in a statement emphasized the illegality of this practice and highlighted the severe consequences, including imprisonment, for those involved.

According to the NCC, individuals using pre-registered SIM cards could unknowingly become involved in various crimes, such as identity theft, financial fraud, kidnapping, and armed robbery.

Additionally, the use of these SIM cards compromises the accuracy of consumer information, making it difficult for authorities to track down criminals effectively.

The Commission stressed the importance of adhering to legal guidelines to enhance national security and urged the public to avoid purchasing pre-registered SIM cards.
