Maiduguri, Borno State, NIGERIA — The Borno State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as its unified candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The resolution was reached during a stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday at the state capital, signaling a solidified front in the Vice President’s home state.
The gathering, presided over by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, featured an unprecedented turnout of the party’s top brass.
Okay News reports that the endorsement followed a formal motion moved by Governor Zulum, who emphasized that the party’s success in next year’s electoral cycle depends entirely on maintaining the long-standing unity among its members.
Addressing the assembly, Governor Zulum reflected on his seven-year tenure, noting that his administration has remained fair to all political stakeholders. While he assured residents that his focus on delivering the “dividends of democracy” would not be deterred by politics, he also offered prayers for a successor capable of building upon his administration’s developmental milestones. “Victory can only be achieved when the long-standing unity among stakeholders is maintained,” the Governor remarked.
The meeting was attended by a formidable delegation including the Deputy Governor, Umar Usman Kadafur; APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori; and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Sen. Abubakar Kyari. Also present were various serving and former senators, members of the House of Representatives, and state assembly leaders, alongside the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani.
