Buhari, NASS Relationship ”very cordial and constitutional” – Ita Enang

By Farouk Mohammed

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly Matters (Senate), Ita Enang, says the relationship between the executive and the legislature is ”very cordial and constitutional” contrary to public opinion.

He stated this while responding to questions from State House correspondents at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Enang cited the instances where the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives come to have personal interactions and briefing with the President Muhammadu Buhari on the affairs of the legislature and other functions of the state.

”The relationship between the President and the Senate President is perfect and very cordial, personal and official,” Enang insisted.

He said there is no tension between the two arms of government despite some disagreements that have occurred, especially ”incidences on the screening of some nominees.”

Enang stated that the legislature was bound to have reservations in the course of carrying out its constitutional functions which it has the responsibility to make known to the executive arm through appropriate communication.
