Buhari welcomes Delta Senator to APC

By Muhammad A. Aliyu

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday welcomed senator representing Delta North, Peter Nwaoboshi, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Okay.ng recalls that Nwaoboshi had been suspended by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over “anti-party” activities.

Nwaoboshi‘s defection was confirmed when President Muhammadu Buhari received him at the State House on Friday, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said in a statement.

The statement reads: “President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday in Abuja welcomed Sen. Peter Nwaoboshi to the All Progressives Congress, after he left the Peoples Democratic Party, saying ‘you are welcome to the progressives family.’

“Sen. Nwaoboshi, representing Delta North District, Delta State, was presented to President Buhari and National Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee at the State House by Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege.

“The Deputy Senate President said Senator Nwaoboshi’s decision to join the APC clearly shows that the effort of the CECPC was yielding fruit. The Senator was warmly welcomed by party members.”
