Abuja, NIGERIA — The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has successfully completed its scheduled system maintenance and fully restored all online registration services as of Monday, April 20, 2026.
The maintenance exercise, which began at midnight on Friday, April 17, was initiated following reports of a potential cybersecurity breach.
Okay News reports that the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has already launched a formal investigation into the incident to ensure the safety of sensitive corporate and personal data.
To bolster account security in the wake of the maintenance, the CAC has introduced a mandatory Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) feature for all user logins. The commission stated that this enhanced security layer is part of its continuous commitment to safeguarding user accounts against unauthorized access. Detailed guidance and a demonstration video on how to activate the 2FA are available on the commission’s portal and official social media platforms.
The CAC apologized for any inconvenience caused during the three-day downtime, during which the registration portal was completely suspended. The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) confirmed it worked closely with the commission to strengthen the portal’s security architecture before the Monday morning reopening.
Users experiencing difficulties with the new login requirements are encouraged to contact the CAC Call Centre at 07080629000 or email the helpdesk. The commission reaffirmed that the cleanup of its database continues, aimed at removing companies operating with false registration credentials.
