By Adamu Abubakar Isa

As part of plans to flag-off his tenure properly, President Bola Tinubu on Friday appointed Femi Gbajabiamila as the Chief of Staff of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This decision was reportedly reached during a meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum, and was officially made public through a statement released by Abiodun Oladunjoye, the State House Director of Information, on Friday.

Femi Gbajabiamila, who has been serving as the Speaker of the House of Representatives since June 12, 2019, expressed his gratitude to President Tinubu for finding him worthy of this crucial role. In his statement, Gbajabiamila acknowledged his twenty years of dedicated service in the Nigerian Parliament and his recent victory in the 6th term election to the National Assembly.

“Thank you, Mr. President, for finding me worthy of being your Chief of Staff,” Gbajabiamila stated.

“Having dedicated the last two decades of my life to the Nigerian Parliament and securing my sixth term in the National Assembly, I am committed to working with Mr. President in discharging the enormous task ahead of us for the peace and progress of the federal republic of Nigeria.”

Gbajabiamila also expressed his readiness to give his utmost best in his new role when he assumes office as the Chief of Staff to the President on June 14, 2023. He conveyed his gratitude once again to President Tinubu for the confidence placed in him and reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling the responsibilities outlined in the President’s official letter.

As Chief of Staff, Gbajabiamila will be responsible for assisting the President in coordinating and managing the day-to-day operations of the Presidency. With his extensive experience and in-depth knowledge of Nigerian politics, his appointment is expected to bring valuable insights and strategic thinking to the highest level of government.
