The People’s Republic of China has commended Nigerian security agencies for rescuing four of its citizens who were abducted in Kwara State.
The Chinese government praised the coordinated operation led by the Office of the National Security Adviser, the Department of State Services, the Nigerian Army, and the Police.
In a statement on Sunday, China’s Ambassador to Nigeria, Yu Dunhai, conveyed the commendation through the Consul of the embassy, Wang Jun, during a formal handover at the DSS medical facility in Abuja.
Wang applauded the DSS for what he described as a swift and intelligence-driven operation that ensured the safe recovery of the Chinese miners.
The rescued nationals — identified as Dansu Zhou, Zhou Hai, Zhou Jia Jun, and Fan Xiu Guo — were reportedly abducted by armed bandits on their way to a mining site in Saminaka village, Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The Consul also expressed appreciation for the medical care provided by the DSS, noting that it played a major role in the quick recovery of the victims.
He said the embassy was impressed by the level of medical support and professionalism displayed by Nigerian operatives during the rescue and recovery process.
The statement further highlighted that the DSS had in recent weeks carried out major security operations across several states, intercepting arms and dismantling criminal networks.
