Dangote Applauds Tinubu’s Visionary Infrastructure and Flood Mitigation Projects

President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, has publicly commended President Bola Tinubu’s administration for its forward-thinking leadership in infrastructure development and flood control measures. In an open letter addressed to the President, Dangote praised the transformative impact of the Bar Beach Land Reclamation project, popularly known as Eko Atlantic City, alongside the ongoing construction of nationwide superhighways.

Okay.ng reports that the letter, titled “Open Letter To President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR: Appreciation,” was shared by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on social media. Dangote highlighted the project’s success in protecting Victoria Island from coastal erosion through an 8.5-kilometre sea wall, creating a modern city spanning 1,000 hectares that supports residential, business, and recreational activities.

Drawing a poignant comparison, Dangote referenced the recent devastating flash floods in Kerr County, Texas, which resulted in over 100 fatalities, to underscore the importance of Tinubu’s proactive flood control initiatives. He applauded the President’s “foresightedness” in ending the era of ocean surges and tackling perennial flooding in critical Lagos areas such as Ahmadu Bello Way and Bishop Oluwole Street.

Beyond flood control, Dangote lauded the administration’s infrastructure projects, including the Lagos-Calabar coastal highway and the Sokoto-Badagry superhighway, describing the latter as the “resurrection of a 48-year-old project.” Both projects are being executed by Hitech Construction Company Limited, a leading civil engineering firm.

Further, Dangote drew parallels between Nigeria’s land reclamation efforts and successful Dutch projects in Zeeland, highlighting the ingenuity and perseverance required to transform submerged land into habitable and productive areas. He saluted Tinubu for embodying this spirit in the Bar Beach initiative.

In a show of corporate social responsibility, Dangote Industries Limited extended condolences to the Texas flood victims and announced that the Aliko Dangote Foundation will soon unveil plans to contribute to a Climate Fund aimed at supporting vulnerable regions in Nigeria prone to natural disasters.

Responding to the commendation, Bayo Onanuga emphasized that Dangote’s praise provides an “honest assessment” of Tinubu’s leadership, challenging opposition narratives that claim the President has underperformed in his first two years.
