Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, has won the U.S. presidential election, securing his return to the White House after surpassing the required 270 electoral college votes.
With a victory in Wisconsin, Trump now holds 276 electoral votes, defeating Democratic candidate Kamala Harris, who currently has 219 electoral votes.
Harris is reportedly preparing her concession speech, which she will deliver shortly.
In a historic comeback, Trump flipped several traditionally Democratic states and emerged victorious in key battlegrounds, reinforcing his appeal among voters in critical areas.
This win makes Trump the 47th president of the United States, following his first term as the 45th president from 2017 to 2021.
Addressing his supporters, Trump described his campaign as an “unprecedented movement,” one that overcame significant challenges.
“This was a movement like nobody has ever seen before. We overcame obstacles that nobody thought possible,” he stated before the networks officially declared him the winner.
He promised a renewed era of strength and security for the country.
“Every day, I will be fighting for you with every breath in my body. I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe, and prosperous America that our children deserve. This will truly be the golden age of America,” Trump affirmed.
Trump’s campaign centered on themes of immigration, border security, and economic revitalization, areas in which he frequently criticized the Democratic Party as “weak.”
He pledged to address pressing national issues, including border management, economic growth, and public safety.
“We are going to help our country heal. We have a country that needs help, and it needs help very badly. We’re gonna fix our borders, we’re gonna fix everything about our country. We made history for a reason tonight,” he concluded.
