American rap legend Dr. Dre has officially been recognised as a billionaire by Forbes, placing him among a small group of music stars who have reached the coveted wealth milestone.
Okay News reports that the music mogul joined the billionaire ranks following the release of Forbes’ latest list of celebrity billionaires. Although he had long been widely described as hip-hop’s first billionaire after the massive sale of Beats by Dre to Apple in a deal valued at about $3.2 billion, the new ranking now formally recognises his net worth as surpassing the billion-dollar threshold.
With the recognition, Dr. Dre joins a select group of musicians already listed as billionaires, including Jay‑Z, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen, and Taylor Swift.
According to the ranking, the producer and entrepreneur is currently placed around 3,332nd on the global list of the world’s richest individuals, tied with several other wealthy celebrities including Rihanna. The achievement further cements Dr. Dre’s legacy as one of the most financially successful figures in the history of hip-hop.
