KUDAN, Kaduna State, Nigeria – Former Kaduna State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Right Honourable Isa Mohammed Ashiru, has announced that he will formally register as a member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
Okay News understands that the move follows Ashiru’s official resignation from the PDP on March 27, 2026. In his resignation letter submitted to the PDP Chairman in Kudan Ward, the two-term governorship candidate cited “persistent internal leadership crisis, conflicts, rancor and divisions” as the primary reasons for his departure. He noted that the state of the party made it “increasingly difficult” to continue his active participation.
Confirming his next political move, Ashiru stated that his formal registration with the ADC will take place at 11:00 AM at his ward in Kudan Local Government Area. “I look forward to this significant step as we continue to work for the progress and development of our people,” he shared in an official announcement tagged with the slogan #AriseAndShine.
The defection of the high-profile politician marks a significant shift in the Kaduna State political landscape as the ADC continues to position itself as a major platform for the opposition ahead of the next electoral cycle.
