Ex-Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello, to be Arraigned on June 27

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has fixed June 27 as the new date for the arraignment of former Kogi Governor, Yahaya Bello, in an alleged money laundering case.

The EFCC had earlier requested a change in the date from June 13 without informing Bello’s lawyers. However, at the resumed hearing on Thursday, counsel to Bello, Adeola Adedipe, SAN, expressed surprise at the EFCC’s decision to proceed with the arraignment despite previously agreeing to a new date.

The EFCC’s lawyer, Rotimi Oyedepo, was present in court, and the new date was reportedly fixed at the instance of the anti-graft agency’s lawyers. Bello’s counsel, Aliyu AbdulWahab, SAN, had agreed to the new date as a convenience.

The case has been adjourned until June 27 for hearing.
