FCT Minister Wike Says No Formal Request Received for Eagle Square Protest

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that his office has not received a formal letter requesting the use of Eagle Square for the planned #EndBadGovernance protest scheduled to start on August 1.

Wike made this statement at a town hall meeting with stakeholders in the FCT on Saturday, emphasizing that protesters should not rely solely on social media to communicate with his office. Instead, they should follow the proper channels to request permission for the protest.

The FCT Minister had previously warned against the protest, stating that the FCT is not available for such demonstrations. The town hall meeting aimed to establish a communication channel between the FCT administration and residents to discuss their grievances and potential solutions.

In attendance were representatives from various groups, including area council chairmen, traditional rulers, religious bodies, political parties, women, and youth groups.
