By Muhammad A. Aliyu

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command has refuted claims of an abduction in the River Park estate, Lugbe area of the nation’s capital.

Reports of an alleged kidnapping incident triggered panic among residents but were later revealed to be a staged event by an individual attempting to defraud his brother.

In a statement issued by Josephine Adeh, spokesperson of the FCT police command, it was clarified that the reported abduction was a fabricated scheme orchestrated by one Nnandi Agu ‘m’ of Games Village.

“The FCT police Command is aware of the news making rounds about an alleged kidnapping incident at River Park estate in the early hours of today and wishes to state that contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate,” the statement reads.

Adeh further explained, “One Nnandi Agu ‘m’ of Games Village only faked his own kidnap in an attempt to defraud his brother who lives within the said Estate.”

According to her, the suspect has been apprehended and is currently in police custody for interrogation.

The police spokesperson assured the public that further developments in the case would be communicated promptly.
