FG Approves Upgrade of FMC Birnin Kebbi to Teaching Hospital

The Federal Government of Nigeria has given the green light for the upgrade of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Birnin Kebbi to a Teaching Hospital, marking a significant milestone in healthcare development in the region.

The confirmation of the upgrade was announced by Malam Abdulmuminu Bawa Yauri, the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kebbi.

Under the leadership of Dr. Aliyu Hamza Balarabe, the hospital’s management has expressed its full support for the upgrade, recognizing its potential to enhance healthcare services in Kebbi State.

With this development, the Federal University Birnin Kebbi (FUBK) medical students will now have access to the teaching hospital for their medical practicals and other health professional needs.

The upgrade signifies a significant step forward in medical education and training in the region.

As a federal university teaching hospital, the facility’s referral level will be elevated to meet the standards of a higher tertiary referral center.

This move is expected to expand the scope of healthcare services available to the people of Kebbi State, further improving access to quality medical care.

Malam Abdulmuminu Bawa Yauri congratulated the people of Kebbi State on this milestone achievement, emphasizing the commitment of the hospital’s management to providing diligent and unwavering support to ensure the success of the upgraded institution.
