The Federal Government has commenced a nationwide revenue recovery drive to boost inflows into the Federation Account.
Over 50 consultants have been appointed to trace and recover unremitted revenues across major sectors within six months. The exercise is jointly coordinated by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
RMAFC Chairman, Dr. Mohammed Bello Shehu, at the inauguration in Abuja on Monday, said the initiative aims to strengthen fiscal discipline and ensure all revenues due to the Federation are remitted transparently.
“This is not a routine administrative action but a deliberate, result-oriented innovation designed to strengthen fiscal governance and recover every naira due to the Federation,” Shehu said.
He noted that the exercise aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and is intended to plug leakages, enhance transparency, and improve the fiscal capacity of all tiers of government.
Representing FIRS Chairman Dr. Zacch Adedeji, the Service’s Coordinating Director, Shettima Tamadi, commended the initiative and assured full collaboration to ensure its success.
“Nigeria has a huge revenue gap, but through stronger inter-agency partnerships, we can bridge it and achieve sustainable growth,” Tamadi said.
RMAFC Secretary, Mr. Joseph Nwaeze Okechukwu, urged the consultants to recover all outstanding funds within the stipulated timeframe, stressing that the proceeds will support national development priorities.
Lead consultant, Mr. Temitayo Ojeleke, described the engagement as a “national call to duty” and pledged professionalism and transparency in executing the assignment.
