ABUJA, Nigeria – The Federal Ministry of Education has dismissed claims circulating online that the Aliko Dangote Ultra-Modern Skills Acquisition Centre in Kano is inactive, reaffirming that the facility remains fully operational under its Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET II – IDEAS) Programme.
In a press statement issued on 1 April 2026, and made available to Okay News on Thursday 2 April 2026, the Ministry stated that the Centre is actively providing vocational training to Nigerian youths, contrary to assertions in viral videos.
According to the Ministry, about 300 trainees have been undergoing instruction in Leather Works, Solar PV Installation, and Hospitality since November 2025. The programme is also supported with funding tranches, while participants receive monthly stipends to aid their learning.
To verify the situation, a delegation mandated by the 8th National Council on Skills visited the facility on 30 March 2026 (WAT) and confirmed that training activities are ongoing, with all enrolled trainees actively engaged.
The Ministry further disclosed that Africa’s foremost industrialist, Aliko Dangote, has pledged to manage the centre for 20 years and expand its capacity to accommodate more trainees.
This clarification follows concerns raised by social commentator Bello Galadanchi, who recently shared a video suggesting that the centre was inactive and called on relevant stakeholders to revive it for youth empowerment.
The Ministry, however, urged the public to disregard misinformation and rely on verified official sources, reiterating its commitment to strengthening skills development and expanding access to quality vocational training across the country.
