FG Lauds Super Eagles’ Triumph in AFCON 2023 Semi-Final

The Federal Government of Nigeria has commended the Super Eagles for their remarkable victory against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana in the semi-final of the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023, held in Ivory Coast.

The game ended 1-1 after extra time, and Nigeria emerged victorious with a 4-2 penalty shootout triumph, securing their spot in the final. Substitute Kelechi Iheanacho was the hero, netting the decisive penalty in a nail-biting showdown in Bouake.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, hailed the Super Eagles’ triumph as resounding, expressing the nation’s unwavering support for the team as they aim to etch their names in the annals of African and global football history.

“The entire nation rallies behind the Super Eagles as they prepare to make history and write their names in gold African and global football,” stated the minister, emphasizing the extraordinary performance displayed by the Nigerian side.

Idris lauded the Super Eagles for their exceptional talent, determination, and teamwork, attributing their success to the indomitable spirit that epitomizes Nigerian football.

With their sights set on clinching the coveted AFCON trophy, the minister expressed confidence in the team’s ability to emerge victorious in the final showdown. He called on all Nigerians to continue rallying behind the Super Eagles, emphasizing the team’s role as standard-bearers of the nation’s hopes and aspirations.

As the Super Eagles gear up for the final match, they await the outcome of the clash between hosts Ivory Coast and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
