FIFA Council Approves Dates for 2027 Africa Cup of Nations

Lagos, Nigeria: The Confederation of African Football announced on Saturday that the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations will be played between June 19 and July 17.

Okay News reports that the FIFA Council approved the dates in Vancouver, Canada, after Confederation of African Football president Patrice Motsepe quelled fears regarding host readiness and fought off a delay to 2028.

“We have worked hard to ensure that the AFCON is held in East Africa, and our commitment remains unwavering. I am confident that we will organise a very successful AFCON in these three countries,” Motsepe said.

The governing body did not reveal whether Uganda, Kenya, or Tanzania would host the opener or the final.

The 2027 edition will be the first spread over three countries and marks the return of the competition to East Africa for the first time since the 1976 edition in Ethiopia.
