The former Governor of Yobe State, Bukar Abba Ibrahim, has passed away at the age of 75 after battling a long-term illness, Okay.ng reports.

Mr Ibrahim, who served as governor from 1999 to 2007 and later represented Yobe State in the Senate, breathed his last on February 4th while undergoing treatment in Saudi Arabia.

Governor Mala Buni of Yobe State expressed profound sadness over the loss and has announced plans for a ceremonial state burial to honour the late senator’s memory.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Governor Buni highlighted the significant contributions of Mr Ibrahim to the development of Yobe State and Nigeria as a whole, describing his passing as a “huge loss” for the nation.
