Ghana Declares One-week Mourning for Late Kofi Annan

The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo, has declared a week of mourning for the late former United Nations chief Kofi Annan.

Kofi Annan died yesterday which was mourned by the Wolrd for his achievements.

In a statement on Saturday, President Akufo Addo described Annan as a consummate diplomat.

He said Ghana was “deeply saddened” by the news of his death in Switzerland on Saturday after a brief illness.

Akufo Addo said: “I have directed that, in his honour, Ghana’s national flag will fly at half-mast across the country and in all of Ghana’s diplomatic missions across the world for one week from Monday.

“He brought considerable renown to our country by this position and through his conduct and comportment in the global arena.”
