Vatican City – Pope Leo XIV has delivered a strong message against war, declaring that God does not listen to the prayers of those who promote violence and bloodshed.
Speaking during the Palm Sunday Mass at St. Peter’s Square, the Pope described Jesus Christ as the “King of Peace,” emphasizing that His life and sacrifice stand in direct opposition to war and aggression. He noted that even in the face of suffering and death, Jesus chose humility and love over violence.
Okay News reports that the Pope drew from biblical teachings to stress that faith cannot be used to justify conflict. Quoting the prophet Isaiah, he warned that prayers offered by those involved in violence are rejected by God, insisting that true followers must embrace peace and reject bloodshed.
Addressing the state of the world, Pope Leo XIV lamented the widespread suffering caused by war and violence, saying many people today cry out in pain as victims of conflict. He urged humanity to lay down weapons and recognize one another as brothers and sisters, calling for compassion, unity, and reconciliation.
He concluded with a message of hope, praying for an end to injustice and suffering, and expressing confidence that peace will ultimately prevail over violence.
