Google has released its annual Year in Search report for Nigeria, revealing the most searched terms, people, and topics of interest to Nigerians in 2022.
The results show a heightened interest in politics, entertainment, sports, and notable personalities. The Africa Cup of Nations and Brazilian football player Casemiro topped the categories of top trending searches and top athletes and sportspeople, respectively.
Nigerian singer and songwriter Oxlade topped both categories of top-trending people and top-trending musicians.
Anikulapo, a Nigerian epic fantasy film, was the top trending movie and series. Questions about Nigeria’s upcoming election were also among the top searches.
