Gov. Ododo Visits CUSTEC, Vows Safe Return of Abducted Students

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has vowed to rescue the nine abducted students of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTEC), Osara, safe and sound from their captors.

The governor made this pledge during a visit to the university campus on Saturday to assess the security situation following the security breach that led to the students’ abduction.

Bandits had invaded the institution on Thursday night, abducting nine students whose whereabouts remain unknown as the assailants have yet to contact the university management.

Governor Ododo promised to secure the safe return of the students and improve the existing security architecture on the campus. He assured the university community that his administration would do everything necessary to return the abducted students to the university and reunite them with their families and friends.

The governor expressed disappointment that despite installed CCTV cameras, the abductors still struck, attributing it to sabotage by internal collaborators as the cameras were switched off during the incident. An investigation is ongoing to identify those responsible.
