Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State has appointed George Etche as the new Secretary to the State Government.

A statement issued by the governor’s Principal Secretary, Pascal Obi, in Owerri said the appointment took immediate effect.

Etche, who hails from Umuwaoma, Obianguru in Ngor-Okpala Local Government Area, would replace Sir Jude Ejiogu, who was relieved of his duties last Friday.

Until his appointment as SSG, Etche was the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Finance.

He was later redeployed to the Ministry of Works as Permanent Secretary, from where he got the present job.

In the early first tenure of the present administration, Etche was the Accountant-General of the State, a position he held for about two years before he was made a permanent secretary.

Obi in the statement wished the new SSG well in his present position.
