Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) has announced a temporary shutdown of its banking system as part of its transition to a more advanced core banking application.

The bank revealed this in a press release, stating that the transition process will begin on Friday, October 11, 2024, and cause disruptions to its banking operations.

According to the statement, all GTBank branches across Nigeria will close early at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, and will reopen by 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14.

The disruption is necessary to complete the upgrade from the current core banking system to the new Finacle Core Banking Application System.

“As part of our commitment to bringing meaningful improvements to the lives of our customers, we will begin the transition from our current Core Banking Applications to a new and robust suite of Finacle Core Banking Application System on Friday, 11th of October 2024,” the bank stated.

Additionally, there will be 11 hours of disruption to GTBank’s digital banking channels, starting from 10:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, until 9:00 a.m. on Monday, October 14.

While digital services will be available during the upgrade, they will be limited to fund transfers, bill payments, airtime, and data purchases.

GTBank emphasized that the system transition aims to enhance customer service and drive digital transformation, ensuring smoother and more efficient interactions with its clients.

The bank reassured customers that full services would resume as soon as the upgrade is completed.
