Gunmen Abduct 9-Year-Old Boy During Night Attack in Ondo State

AKURE, Nigeria: Suspected gunmen abducted nine-year-old Olaosebikan Victor during an attack on Ugbosi Quarters in Idogun, located in the Ose Council Area of Ondo State, Nigeria, at approximately 1:30 a.m. WAT on Friday, June 5, 2026.

Okay News reports that the spokesperson for Nigeria’s Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, announced the deployment of tactical teams to search surrounding forests and apprehend the perpetrators.

The armed group invaded the community firing weapons and forced entry into the residence of Olaosebikan Isaac, the abducted child’s father. Isaac escaped into the nearby bush, while a separate property belonging to resident Joel Owalekan was damaged during the incident.

“All tactical teams, intelligence units and other relevant security assets have been directed to intensify efforts toward the immediate rescue of the victim unhurt and the arrest of the perpetrators,” Abayomi said. “Anyone with credible and actionable information relating to the abducted child or the suspects is encouraged to report promptly to the nearest police station or other security agency,” he said.

The Ondo State Government mobilized personnel from the Amotekun Corps, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the military to conduct combing operations in the area. Nigeria’s Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Idowu Ajanaku, stated that intelligence gathering is ongoing.

“Preliminary security measures have already been strengthened in the affected axis, while intelligence gathering and search operations are ongoing to ensure the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice,” Ajanaku said.
