The aged step-mother of Alhaji Salisu Ibrahim, a member of the Kano State House of Assembly representing Doguwa Constituency was Sunday, kidnapped by unknown gunmen.

Confirming the incident to newsmen on Monday, Ibrahim said the hoodlums abducted the woman on Sunday in Ririwai town, near the notorious Falgore forest, which according to him, served as den for cattle rustlers and other criminals.

He said, “My step mother, Hajiya Hafsat Abubakar, was in her room when they invaded the house.

“The abductors demanded for N50 million ransom.

The Commissioner of Police, CP, Mr. Muhammad Katsina, when contacted, said four suspects had been arrested.

“We have arrested four persons in connection with the issue and they are helping our investigation.

“The command’s anti-kidnapping squad is already combing the Falgore forest to rescue the elderly woman,” the CP confirmed, claiming that the kidnappers were Fulani men engaged in cattle rustling.
