The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has unveiled the final fare for the 2024 Hajj pilgrimage, citing recent fluctuations in the foreign exchange rate as a key factor behind the adjustment.

According to Malam Jalal Arabi, Chairman of NAHCON, intending pilgrims from Nigeria’s Southern center will be required to pay N4,899,000, while those from the Northern center will pay N4,699,000.

However, pilgrims from Yola and Maiduguri centers will pay N4,679,000.

The Deputy Director of Public Affairs, Fatima Sanda Usara, explained that the decision to revise the fare was prompted by the instability in the Dollar exchange rate, despite initial efforts to maintain the 2024 Hajj fare at N4.5 million.

“The prospects had remained high until the well-known Naira crash that occurred mid-week. Regrettably, the recent instability in the Dollar exchange rate compelled a necessary adjustment despite commendable efforts by NAHCON Chairman, Jalal Ahmad Arabi, to maintain the cost of the year’s Hajj at the said rate,” Usara stated.

NAHCON reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to ensuring a smooth and successful Hajj pilgrimage for all participants, despite the challenges posed by foreign exchange factors.

The Commission expressed gratitude for the understanding and cooperation of the Nigerian Muslim community in navigating these adjustments.
