Health Ministry Debunks Instant Relief Fund and Recruitment Rumors

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has issued a statement denying reports of an Instant Relief Fund of N15,000 for the public and general recruitment into its hospitals.

The Ministry’s Director of Information, Patricia Deworitshe, warned the public not to be deceived by online scammers and clarified that the Ministry has no plans for such disbursements or recruitment exercises.

The statement read, “The attention of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has been drawn to an online publication in the media that the Ministry is giving out Fifteen thousand Naira (N15,000) INSTANT RELIEF FUNDS to the public. The general public is to be informed that the Ministry is not in the process of giving such money.”

Regarding recruitment, the Ministry stated, “The Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare wishes to inform the general public that the Ministry is not currently in the process of recruiting general staff for the hospitals.”

The Ministry had earlier placed an advertisement in two national dailies for the recruitment of Chief Medical Directors and Directors of Administration in some Federal Tertiary Hospitals, but clarified that this was not a general recruitment exercise.

The public is advised to be cautious and verify information through official channels to avoid falling victim to online scams.
