OKN Media Publishing is seeking a highly skilled news reporter to join the team at Okay.ng, a digital news platform based in Lagos, Nigeria. The successful candidate will have a strong background in journalism or editorial work and be responsible for researching, writing, and editing news stories, as well as staying up-to-date with current events and building a network of sources.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Researching, fact-checking, and writing news stories with the Okay.ng audience in mind
  • Collecting and verifying newsworthy information
  • Proofreading their work to ensure accuracy and compliance with copyright laws
  • Collaborating with other reporters, video editors, social media managers, and producers
  • Staying up-to-date with current events and building a network of contacts and sources for use in future stories
  • Attending press conferences and events, and filing timely reports
  • Developing and publishing weekly reviews, opinion pieces, and reports
  • Editing and proofreading stories as assigned
  • Ensuring accuracy and consistency with the Okay.ng brand voice and adherence to the Okay.ng Content Framework
  • Actively contributing to the success of the content team by developing story ideas, sourcing exclusive reports, and making other innovative suggestions
  • Identifying, suggesting, and implementing strategies to increase the readership and reach of Okay.ng
  • Staying informed about trends and the competitive landscape to ensure that Okay.ng remains ahead of the curve
  • Abiding by the core principles of journalism and codes of ethics for Nigerian and international journalists
