The Nigerian House of Representatives has been plunged into mourning following the death of one of its members, Ekene Abubakar Adams. The 39-year-old lawmaker, who represented Kaduna State and chaired the House Committee on Sports, passed away early Tuesday morning.
Adams’ death is the third to affect the House of Representatives this year, following the passing of Olaide Akinremi last week and Isa Dogonyaro two months prior. The late lawmaker was described by the House spokesman, Akin Rotimi Jr, as “a kind and gentle humanitarian” who was dedicated to the development of grassroots sports in Nigeria.
The House of Representatives has extended its condolences to Adams’ family, friends, and constituents, as well as the government and people of Kaduna State.
