The presidency confirmed the passing of the army chief on Wednesday morning, disclosing that he had been away due to an undisclosed illness.

In a statement signed by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Nigeria Police Force expressed profound sadness at the loss of General Lagbaja, who was known for his relentless fight against insurgency, armed banditry, and violent extremism.
