Joe Biden’s Son, Hunter Convicted of Federal Gun Charges

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

Hunter Biden, son of President Joe Biden, has been found guilty of federal gun charges related to his 2018 purchase of a handgun while struggling with drug addiction. The conviction on all three felony counts marks a historic first criminal prosecution of a sitting US president’s child.

President Biden expressed love and support for his son, stating, “I am the President, but I am also a Dad… Jill and I love our son, and we are so proud of the man he is today.” The verdict comes as President Biden seeks reelection and is scheduled to speak about gun violence in Washington.

The conviction stems from a 2018 incident where Hunter Biden purchased a handgun while undergoing treatment for drug addiction. The prosecution argued that he lied on the background check form, falsifying his drug use history. The jury deliberated for three hours over two days before returning a guilty verdict on all counts.

The White House released a statement reaffirming President Biden’s support for his son and respect for the judicial process as Hunter considers an appeal.
