Kano, Nigeria – Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has cautioned members of the Kano State Executive Council against leaking government information, warning that acts of disloyalty and internal rivalry will no longer be tolerated.
The governor issued the warning during the council’s 38th meeting, stressing the need for unity and commitment among cabinet members in order to achieve the administration’s development goals, Okay News reports.
Yusuf said recent political and administrative developments in the state influenced his decision, along with key stakeholders, to align politically with the All Progressives Congress. According to him, the move followed consultations with members of the executive council, lawmakers at both the state and national levels, as well as chairmen of the state’s 44 local government areas.
The governor disclosed that five commissioners had resigned following the political realignments, adding that their resignations had been accepted.
He also congratulated newly elected lawmakers for Kano Municipal and Ungogo constituencies, urging them to justify the confidence placed in them by voters. Yusuf further commended Umar Haruna Doguwa on emerging as chairman of the All Progressives Congress in the state after the party’s recent congress.
The governor noted that his administration had continued to implement programmes aimed at improving residents’ welfare, including the establishment of 150 Ramadan feeding centres for vulnerable people.
He also confirmed the appointment of Bilkisu Shehu Maimota as acting Head of Service following the removal of the former occupant of the office, and urged her to strengthen discipline and professionalism within the state civil service.
