Kano Gov’t Debunks Report of Journalist Injured by Stray Bullet

By Adamu Abubakar Isa

The Kano State Government has denied reports that a journalist, Naziru Idris Ya’u, was injured by a stray bullet at the State House on Friday.

According to a statement by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Sanusi Tofa, the journalist sustained injuries from metal debris from an ongoing construction at the Government House, not a stray bullet.

Tofa stated that the incident was investigated by medical personnel attached to the government house, who revealed the true nature of Ya’u’s injuries. He assured that the safety of journalists attached to the government house is guaranteed and cautioned journalists to ensure credible sources while reporting.

The government urged the public to refrain from spreading unsubstantiated claims and to rely on verified information from credible sources. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
