A member of the House of Representatives representing Matazu/ Musawa Federal Constituency, Ibrahim Murtala, has defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Katsina state lawmaker announced his defection in a letter read by the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, on the floor of the House on Tuesday.
Murtala said in the letter that he wished to inform the house and the general public that he was no longer a card-carrying member of the APC.
The Katsina state lawmaker said he would from now pursue his political career under the umbrella of the PDP.
