The Labour Party (LP) has appointed a veteran Nollywood actress and social activist, Hilda Dokubo as the chair of its three-man steering committee in Rivers State, with the aim of repositioning the party in the state ahead of future elections.

Julius Abure, national chairman of the LP, made the announcement in a letter seen by Okay.ng on Thursday.

The appointment of the committee, which is for a period of one month, comes after the expiration of the tenure of the Caretaker Committee led by Diene Pepple.

She is joined by Pastor Philip Nyechi Loveday and Gogo Wellington, who will serve as secretary and publicity secretary respectively.

He stated that the appointment of the new committee supersedes any previous letter relating or connected to the dissolution of the Caretaker Committee.
