Lagos State Declares August 20th Work-Free for Isese Day Celebration

The Lagos State Government has officially declared Tuesday, August 20, 2024, as a work-free day for public servants in honor of this year’s Isese Day celebration.

This marks the first time the state has designated a public holiday for the Isese Day festivities.

The announcement was made through a circular issued by the Head of Service, Bode Agoro, detailing the Governor’s approval of the holiday. According to the circular, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has sanctioned the day off to acknowledge and support traditional institutions, as well as to promote the preservation of indigenous cultural heritage.

The circular, titled “Commemoration of Year 2024 Isese Day – Declaration of Work-Free Day,” reads: “It is hereby notified for general information that this Year’s Isese Day Celebration will hold on Tuesday, 20th August, 2024.

“In emphasizing commitment to give necessary support to traditional institutions, as well as enhance the promotion of indigenous tradition by preserving cultural heritage, Mr. Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has approved that Tuesday, 20th August, 2024, be declared a Work-Free Day for Public Servants in the State.

“Consequently, work resumes on Wednesday, 21st August, 2024 at 8:00 a.m.

“Accordingly, all Accounting Officers are enjoined to note the contents of this Circular and give it the deserved Service wide publicity.”
