LG Chairman Arrested in Alleged Assassination Plot Against Benue Assembly Speaker

The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended two suspects, one of whom is the chairman of a Local Government Area in Benue State, for their alleged involvement in an assassination plot against the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Aondona Dajoh.

The Force Headquarters disclosed that preliminary investigations uncovered a disturbing connection between the arrested Local Government chairman and a contracted militia, suggesting a sinister intention to eliminate Speaker Dajoh.

Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, conveyed this information in a statement on Monday. Adejobi stated, “The Nigeria Police Force, through the diligent efforts of its operatives, has successfully apprehended two suspects involved in an alleged assassination plot. The arrested suspects include a chairman of one of the Local Government Areas of Benue State.”

The Force Intelligence Department’s Intelligence Response Team acted swiftly upon receiving credible intelligence about the planned assassination. Both suspects are currently in police custody, actively cooperating with investigators during the ongoing inquiry.

Adejobi reassured the public of the police force’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and preventing crimes at all levels. He emphasized, “The arrested suspects will face the full weight of the law.”

This shocking revelation underscores the challenges faced by public officials in discharging their duties. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ongoing efforts to uphold the safety and security of citizens and elected representatives.
